I’ve been using the Maybelline EyeStudio Colour Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Eyeshadows *takes deep breath* for almost a year now, and although my collection is small, I’ll be sharing my favourites as well as a mini review.
All of the Maybelline Colour Tattoos can be worn alone or as eyeshadow bases. When blended, the cream shadows are much less pigmented than they appear on swatches and in the pot, and even the darkest shades become quite wearable. However, if you do like the intensity of the shadows, the colour can be built up.
I’m going to start off with the shimmers of my collection. Pink Gold 65 is a rose gold with golden flecks, making a perfect all-over eye colour. This shade in particular is very metallic, and I would say perfect for days when you need to look awake and alert.
Next up is Eternal Gold 05, which I find although a beautiful yellow gold with golden flecks, can be uneven if applied alone. The best way to wear this shadow is as a base for a golden eye look, or use a powder shadow over it to intensify. To be completely honest, I wouldn’t have picked this up in retrospect as I don’t think the pay-off is that great.
Metallic Pomegranate 70 is hands down one of my favourites. I think it’s the perfect shade for this time of year, and it compliments almost all eye colours. A maroon colour saturated in gold flecks, provides a beautiful wash of colour when applied all over the lid, but also looks beautiful as an eyeliner. If you wanted to pick up one, I would recommend this one!
As for mattes, I also own three of the shades – what a nice even number! Crème De Rose 91 is also one of my favourites. A very muted rose colour with neutral undertones makes this perfect as a base for a romantic pink look or alone for a very subtle wash of colour. This can be a dupe for Mac’s Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Soft Ochre.
A shade I wear underneath almost every eyeshadow look is Crème de Nude 93. I usually set this with a beige eyeshadow and layer my eyeshadow look on top. This colour neutralises any natural darkness or veins on my lids, and I find that although it technically is not a primer, it does make my eyeshadow last slightly longer than if I didn’t use it. This shade is also a well-known dupe for Mac’s Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly.
Finally, Crème De Beige 98, a dirty beige colour leaning towards brown is a shade I also love to wear all over the lid for a quick eyeshadow look.
I must say I really enjoy these cream eyeshadows and definitely don’t regret buying them. Almost a year of use and they show no signs of drying, and are still creamy and bendable. I would say that once applied, you do have to work quick because they do dry down making them hard to blend later on. Priced at £4.99 I think they’re a great value for money, and a nice introduction to cream eyeshadow.

I really hope that middle shade is a dupe for the MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre. I want it!

I’ve had two of them for a few years now and they still haven’t dried out! They’re all really lovely and so pigmented. My favorite is bad to bronze. Even when I wear it alone it looks like I’m actually wearing 2 or 3 shadows! I totally need to get the pink and pomegranate ones next 😀

A bronzey colour sounds like a good choice, I’ve heard good things about On and On Bronze/ Bad to the Bronze!
